There are more than 74 good studies on the use of caffeine for both endurance exercise and short-term, higher intensity exercise. The vast majority of the studies conclude that caffeine does indeed enhance performance and makes the effort seem easier (by about 6%). But, before you shout ‘hooray’, it may be well worth experimenting with your own personal response to caffeine as responses may vary. Assuming that you will perform better with a caffeine-boost may just as likely leave you running to the nearest port-a-loo!
